The sun finally came out yesterday (for seemingly the first time in a week). Otherwise, it was more of the same: mostly low traffic local roads punctuated by short stretches on busy highways. Alea racked up about 53 miles and was pretty much out of gas the last several miles, thanks mainly to the humidity.
We're staying at Haas-Cienda RV Park ($32.10, full hook ups) in Poplarville, MS, which in many regards is a step up from Peaceful Pines of two nights ago. At least there is more space here, but there aren't picnic tables or fire rings.
We once again caught sight of the two couples that we met briefly at Peaceful Pines (Bill and Karen Grass, Jeff and Kim Grass). They were also at Bogue Chitto State Park last night, but in the upper campground. And they appear to have set out from there earlier than us, as I first saw them in Bogalusa, LA, where we stopped to get some odds and ends. Of course I see on their blog where they stopped for doughnuts first thing in the morning, so perhaps they simply blew by us with a massive sugar rush?
We were pilfered last night, probably by a possum. Early in the evening I had seen what looked like a cat scooting under our trailer and making a bee line to another nearby glamper (probably raiding a dog food bowl or other regular haunt). We had left the galley hatch open, where it chowed down on bread and vanilla wafers before we realized what was going on.
