Alea managed to find a couple of hours of sunshine in which to complete the remaining 21 miles of the first leg of this year's journey. Then, almost immediately, the fog rolled in. We donned our hiking boots, wool shirts and jeans, and still had trouble staying warm, so we got a fire going early in the afternoon.
We are camped at Blackwoods Campground ($30, primitive, no showers), which is just south of Bar Harbor. We managed to get an 8 minute shower for $2 each at a private place just outside of the campground entrance.
There was heavy rain forecast for the evening, so we celebrated the end of our Atlantic Coast tour and stayed warm at Reel Pizza Cinerama in Bar Harbor. We opted for the Mussel Beach Pizza, and saw an Irish independent film entitled Sing Street, which was quite enjoyable.
We will be hanging out here on Mount Desert Island for a few days before driving south to begin our journey west from Brunswick, ME (the point at which Adventure Cycling's Northern Tier route begins).
