Alea had another fairly easy day, riding 42 miles to Quartzite, AZ. This area is famous for cheap winter camping on BLM land, but we've opted to stay at one of the many campgrounds in town.
We are staying at B-10 Campground ($27.68, power, water, free wi-fi [out of range] and adjustable showers). It's basically a gravel parking lot with about one tree for every six spaces, but it works well enough. We were thinking it would have been nice to have had one of the sites with trees, but a regular says that may not have worked out very well. According to him, scorpions can climb trees, but can just as easy fall out of them...
It is an interesting crowd here. More than a few appear to be boondocking nomads - folks who wander from free campsite to free campsite. Our thought is that some of these folks are here now because they are thinking that they can get a job and free rent once the regular flocks of snowbirds begin arriving in the coming weeks. At least a few appear to be on bicycles, and perhaps have been traveling just a bit too long...
