Corn Valley: Anywhere, Illinois. |
She ended her ride just a couple of miles due east of Ashkum, IL. From there we drove due north to Bradley, IL where the folks at Tern of the Pedal repaired the broken link on my chain, charging me a total of $9. From there we backtracked, stopping to get supplies at Aldi, Walmart and Dollar Tree. Then we checked in at the KOA and got going on doing our laundry.
We are camping at Kankakee South KOA ($30.85, power, water, wi-fi). Thankfully there are large shade trees here, as it is once again hot and humid. There is also a chance of severe weather, so as long as a branch doesn't come crashing down on us during the storm, we should be protected from possible hail.
The one nice thing about being at this KOA is that the bathrooms and laundry are air conditioned!
We are hunkered down for the evening. A storm with 60 mph winds and quarter-sized hail will be here any minute. We are hoping the old oak tree that we are camped under holds up to the storm. The power went out the second the storm got here...
