Day 35: Minnesota

Today was a bit different for us.  Yesterday we had left the Northern Tier Route at Horace, MN in order to see about getting our trailer serviced in West Fargo.  So we needed to return there to pick up where we left off.

The low temp this morning was around 73 degrees, so Alea and I unhitched the trailer around 6 am and drove to Horace, where I dropped Alea off to resume our progress eastward.  From there I drove ahead to each turn along the route to provide a "bread crumb" to help her find her way.  Our travels concluded near Downer, MN, a total distance of about 23 miles.  It was just as well it was a short mileage day, because the winds were once again strong and blowing in the wrong direction, with storms forecast for later in the day.  We'll return to that spot on Wednesday to resume cycling east.

Alea finds me "bread-crumbing" for her at our next-to-last turn of the day.
With that out of the way, we returned to the campground to retrieve our trailer.  From there we tried to do some chores with only partial success.  The only used book store in town was seriously overpriced, so that was a bust.  The bike shop in town was willing to give us a warranty replacement for a Specialized Armadillo tire of mine that had recently delaminated, but they didn't have a comparable size in stock to replace it (but at least we got some additional tire tubes to replenish our depleted stock).  Our last stop before leaving for Grand Forks was to allow Alea to get her haircut, and she was in and out of there in no time at all.

So we arrived in Grand Forks around mid-afternoon.  While waiting for Joe to get off work, we retrieved our forwarded mail and sorted through the few items that needed our attention.  So now we're looking forward to some time off the bikes and to relax for a few days.
